Eat & Chat

Purpose - To inform members of different communities about ways that they can improve their health through simple changes in diet, exercise, and lifestyle, with the ultimate goal of leading people to look to Christ who is the ultimate healer. Led by doctors, guests from the community are able to have their questions answered about their health. Our  “Eat And Chat” program covers a health talk and a free food with our cooking demo, showing how to cook some of our favorite foods in a way that’s healthier–but still tastes great! Each talk ends with a tasty food cooking demonstration.  Thanks to our partnership with the West Alabama Food Bank, we have been able to distribute food to the guests that attend.

Health Lectures:
High Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Attack, Stroke, Weight management, and Pain & Depression.

Cooking Demonstrations:

“Spare the Hog” Collard Greens, Butternut Squash, Bread, Fruit Salad, and Smoothies

Health Fair

Purpose- To bring quality healthcare to the community members that would not otherwise be able to access health care. We also strive to connect them with their local resources. In some areas we also use the health fairs as a method of softening the hearts of people that may possibly be desiring spiritual health along with the physical healing.

Below are the cities we have been able to do health fairs  in 2016 & 2017

NAPS ABUNDANT LIFE ACADEMY (NALA)

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to cultivate young men and women who will stand as distinguished thinkers in society; youth that will walk in the path of academic excellence, persevere in adversity, and remain faithful to God. We are committed to providing a well-rounded education, teaching students practical skills that will prepare them for this life, and ULTIMATELY the life which is to come.

NAPS began working in the Black Belt region in 2010 through tutoring programs and building projects. While working in this area, volunteers noticed disrepancies in the community. One major disparity was the educational need in the area. The following are some shockingly surreal statistics that were found:

60% of schools in the area are failing,

98% of the students are not ready for college Math,

95% of the students are not ready for college Science,

60% of those graduating high school are not ready for college English,

There are even 12th graders who can only read at a second grade level.

____

Based on these observations, NAPS was inspired to construct an elementary school, NAPS Abundant Life Academy (NALA), in 2013. The school was developed due to the request for NAPS volunteers, and the overwhelming need for better education, in the Black Belt regions of Alabama and Mississippi.
